Within the Internal Arts Academy, a dedicated Women’s Nei Gong program is taught by Roni Edlund, offering a clear and systematic approach to internal cultivation as it unfolds through the female body and physiology. This program follows the same structured and progressive model as the wider Nei Gong syllabus, yet it is shaped by an understanding that women’s internal processes, energetic rhythms and developmental pathways express themselves in distinct ways that oftetimes differ from male-based practices.

The women’s Nei Gong program is available to all female members of the Internal Arts Academy who will begin to learn how their process differs slightly according to female subtle anatomy.

The Program Structure

The program is available to all female members of the Internal Arts Academy alongside the standard Nei Gong program, which is non gender specific. Roni Edlund is regularly adding lessons to this section in order to shed more light on how women may gain the greatest benefit from internal work.

  • Sitting and breathing for women
  • Stages of life and the menstrual cycle
  • Lunar Qi Gong and practice aligned with the Moon cycle
  • Women’s Qi Gong drawn largely from Buddhist lineages
  • Chinese medicine for women practitioners
  • Meditation for women

At the current time, the program takes around eight months to complete, with lessons opening each week, though the program is expanding continuously.

Women-Specific Practice

Whilst female practitioners do not require an entirely separate method of practising Nei Gong, much of the training remains consistent for both genders, there are clear and meaningful differences between men and women that are worth acknowledging and supporting. These distinctions arise across all three levels of cultivation: the physical body, the energetic system and the mind.

This program offers a supportive pathway through which women can explore internal practice with clarity and confidence.

For too long, the Qi Gong and Nei Gong world has been largely male focused. At the Internal Arts Academy, we are pleased to introduce this program in order to provide clear, grounded support for women within the internal arts.

Sign up today and join the many women who have already benefited from developing a deeper understanding of their own inner environment.

Womens Nei Gong

Roni Edlund is a senior teacher within the Lotus Nei Gong School and teaches regularly alongside Damo Mitchell on major retreats, as well as leading her own independent training programmes and events.

Roni has spent many years studying and training throughout Asia, working with a range of traditional teachers and lineages within internal martial and meditative arts. Her primary framework remains the structured Nei Gong methodology developed by Damo Mitchell as well as esoteric Buddhist methods from her own studies in Asia.

She holds a three-year university-level degree in Chinese medicine and completed a further three years of professional training in Acupuncture and Tui Na at the Xian Tian College of Chinese Medicine. In addition, Roni has undertaken private training in Wai Qi Liao Fa (Qi emission) to support the integration of Qi Gong with clinical and therapeutic practice.

Roni’s Book of Daoist Nei Gong for Women

Blurb from the rear of the book:

“Although the energetic anatomy of men and women is different, the ancient teachings of Nu Dan, a separate branch of internal alchemy for women, have been lost in the literature over the centuries and only survive through practice in the lineages. This book takes a detailed look at female energetic anatomy, exploring how it is different from its male counterpart, and explains and describes the specific practices which support the unique strengths and challenges that the female energy system presents. Previously wrapped in secrecy, the teachings in this book include qigong exercises that activate the energy of the uterus and an explanation of how menstruation and a connection to the cycles of the moon can be converted into a tool for Nei Gong development.”

The material taught in the women’s Nei Gong program within the Academy is nicely supported by this book on Daoist Nei Gong written by Roni Edlund and Damo Mitchell. Available on Amazon, this book looks in detail at inner-practice for women and how it differs from male-practice. The cycles of the moon, the nature of Blood versus Qi and meditative training for women are all subjects covered in this book and the online program

“I knew I had found a rare treasure for my instructors and students when I read Roni and Damo’s Daoist Nei Gong for Women. Thorough, deep and wise, this is a voluminous “must-have” on any serious Qigong/ Neigong practitioner’s shelf. It is sure to answer all questions women will have on these ancient health and empowerment practices, as up until now, so few knowledgeable books have been written about them. Women practitioners will now have a deep well to draw from, gleaning wisdom from two of the finest teachers of Neigong in the modern world.”
